DirectTV NOW’S Price Hike 2018

As of today, DIRECTTV NOW’S price has increased by $5. This wasn’t unexpected as most companies have increased prices in 2018. On your next DIRECTTV NOW’s bill, you will see the new price which is $5 more than the previous month’s bill. Most rates have increased in 2018 3-4 percent as well as increasing the fees for broadcast tv and regional sports fees.

A response from AT&T regarding their price hike states:

In the 18 months since our launch, we have continued to evolve our DIRECTV NOW products to serve this new customer set and compare favorably with our competitors. To continue delivering the best possible streaming experience for both new and existing customers, we’re bringing the cost of this service in line with the market—which starts at a $40 price point.

The Good News:

Cord cutting has become increasingly popular due to outrageous prices amongst cable and satellite bills. A research firm eMarketer says by 2018 cord cutting will grow to 33 million Americans. Most of this is due to the current state of the economy. Cord cutter rates are expected to slowly decrease by 2019 as the economy continues to improve.  According to eMarketer, cord cutting growth in 2019 will slow to 18.9% down from the predicted 32.8% growth in 2018
